Biography:
Zoom, also known as Hunter Zolomon, is a supervillain associated with the Flash in DC Comics. He debuted in The Flash: Secret Files and Origins #3 (November 2001), created by Geoff Johns and Scott Kolins.
Unlike previous Reverse-Flashes who were motivated by jealousy or a desire for power, Zolomon's actions stem from a twisted logic. Paralyzed by Gorilla Grodd, he asked Flash to use the Cosmic Treadmill to prevent the attack, Flash refused, fearing the consequences of altering time. Zolomon then tried to use it himself. The resulting explosion granted him the ability to manipulate his own personal timeline, giving the illusion of super speed.
He believes that the Flash can only become a better hero by enduring personal tragedy, so he orchestrates events to push Wally West, and later Barry Allen, to their limits, making him a dangerous and unpredictable adversary. He sees himself as helping the Flash become the best version of himself through adversity.
